Saned

Introduction

The Unemployment Insurance System, known as “Saned,” is a program designed to promote job security and achieve social protection for Saudi Arabian workers who are subscribed in the Pensions Branch of the Social Insurance system, by providing a monthly source of income during the transitional period between the previous job and the chance of getting a new one.

Benefits

The financial support of the Saned program varies as per the below table, starting at 60% of the salary originally registered for the first 3 months, reaching maximum of 9,000 SAR, to drop to 50% for the rest of the period, reaching a maximum of 7,500 SAR.

Beneficiaries

Applicants enrolling in Saned should meet the following requirements:

  • Should be Saudi national, whether male or a female or having a Saudi mother.
  • Should be under 60 years old.
  • Should be eligible to work.
  • Should not be employed neither in the public nor private sectors.
  • Should not be employed for 90 days or less.
  • Should have lost his last job for unforeseen reasons.
  • Should not have any trading or commercial activities.
  • Should not have any expatriate under his sponsorship, except for househelpers.
  • Should not be benefiting from Hafiz, Searching for Employment or Hafiz Difficulty Finding Employment programs.
  • Should not stay outside the Kingdom for more than 60 days during his enrollment to the program.
  • Should have previously contributed to the program as follows:
    • 12 out of the 36 last months for the first application to the program.
    • 18 out of the 36 last months for the second application to the program.
    • 24 out of the 36 last months for the third application to the program.
    • 36 out of the 48 last months for the forth application to the program.
